Dr. Eden Fromberg is an integrative, obstetrician/gynecologist, holistic women’s health specialist and osteopathic clinical professor whose innovative and engaging approach to reframing the medical dialogue and implementing effective health and wellness strategies with her patients and clients is unique and unsurpassed. Her practice in New York City and the Hudson Valley is a sanctuary for truly holistic women’s health care. Dr. Fromberg is also the founding director of Lila Yoga, Dharma & Wellness, where she teaches and curates programs and trainings for women.
Dr. Fromberg’s extensive and diverse background, years of clinical experience, dedication to caring well for her patients, and active interest in current research and innovation give her the opportunity to sort out complex issues and offer a range and depth of options to meet her patients' needs. In addition to her expertise in integrative fertility, pregnancy, and birth, Dr. Fromberg applies a functional, structural, and biointelligent approach to addressing all areas of gynecology, and women’s health, and beyond. She creates unique, customized programs designed to encourage the body’s innate abilities and healing processes to flourish, addressing underlying causes and prevention in addition to symptoms.
Nutrition, movement, meaningful information, cutting edge research, alternative perspectives, and a range of potential options offer Dr. Fromberg’s patients the care, relief, and support they need while often avoiding the potential side effects and risks of pharmaceutical medications, synthetic hormones, and surgery. Dr. Fromberg takes a special interest in the complex areas of female pain, pelvic floor and sexual dysfunction from an integrative perspective. She helps women throughout the life cycle achieve optimal hormonal health, and is a bioidentical hormone expert.
In addition to her busy medical practice and wellness studio, Dr. Fromberg teaches and consults locally and internationally. She has worked collaboratively with midwives and birth centers in the Hudson Valley, Bali and New York City supporting culturally sensitive, gentle childbirth practices worldwide. She appears in the film The Business of Being Born (2007) and in the Pregnancy Health Guru series on Fetal Development. She has been a consultant for Birth India, and has worked intimately with midwife Robin Lim, 2011 CNN Hero of the Year and the Bumi Sehat gentle childbirth foundation in Bali, Indonesia since 1997. Dr. Fromberg has been on the Medical Review Board and writes for the Huffington Post. Her work has been featured in Time, Yoga Journal, BUST, Natural Health, Parents, Spirituality & Health, and Midwifery Today.
Eden G. Fromberg, DO, is an osteopathic physician, Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Board Certified in Integrative & Holistic Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology, a Diplomate of the American Board of Integrative & Holistic Medicine, and has been a Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine since 2000.
Born by natural childbirth in Brooklyn, New York in 1965, Eden was fully breastfed, weaned onto a naturopathic diet, and raised as a third generation vegetarian. In the 1950s, Eden’s grandparents owned and operated Hygiology Country Club, an organic vegetarian retreat in Rhinebeck, New York - only a few miles from the site of today’s Omega Institute – where Eden’s parents met and married. Eden grew up with an awareness of the wholeness of all things and the goodness within people.
Eden began studying nutrition, yoga, midwifery and botanical medicine at Oberlin College, graduating with a B.A. in Biology in 1985. She completed a premed program at University of California, Santa Cruz while volunteering at the Santa Cruz Women's Health Center and apprenticing with midwives, then worked at Planned Parenthood and the legendary midwife-run Booth Maternity Hospital in Philadelphia prior to attending medical school. She graduated from Southeastern University of the Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991, and completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1995. Following graduation, Eden worked at the Catskill Women's Health Center in the Hudson Valley, collaborating with midwives and seeing patients in vintage farmhouse offices.
In 1997 and ever since, Eden has worked intimately with internationally renowned midwife, Robin Lim, CNN Hero of the Year 2011, has worked with Birth India, and continues to work collaboratively with midwives and birth centers internationally. Eden wrote the forward to Eating for Two: Recipes for Pregnant & Breastfeeding Women by Robin Lim, and was an assistant researcher for Obat Asli Bali: The Synthesis of Traditional Herbal Medicine & Modern Medicine in Bali, Indonesia (Indonesian Institute of Sciences, Udayana University, Denpasar, Bali), in addition to professional publications. Before opening her private practice, Eden was an integral contributor to opening and operating the original Birth Center at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.
In 2003, Eden founded Lila Yoga, Dharma & Wellness, an innovative center dedicated to the cultivation and celebration of the cycle of life, with a focus on prenatal and women’s yoga and movement. In 2005, Dr. Fromberg established her integrative gynecology practice within SOHO OB/GYN as a sanctuary for truly holistic women's health care dedicated to sorting out complex issues and offering a range and depth of options and treatments to meet her patients' needs while developing further diverse expertise including bioidentical hormones, alternative therapies, integrative fertility, female pain, sexual dysfunction, adrenal fatigue, and chronic inflammatory and autoimmune illness in women. Dr. Fromberg is a Founding Member of the Fascia Research Society, and connective tissue insights are integral to her holistic medical perspective and treatment concepts.
Dr. Fromberg appeared in the film, The Business of Being Born, and has been on the medical review board and remains an active contributor to the Huffington Post. She is an international women's health consultant, and a featured writer and speaker. She continues to offer holistic gynecology and integrative women’s health care in her NYC and Hudson Valley offices, and via virtual biointelligent women’s health educational consultations worldwide.
